Lets help you get started!
Do you offer a trial?
Absolutely! Your first day of training at SABJJ is completely free. Come along to experience the academy, meet our instructors, and ask any questions you may have.
What do I bring to my first class?
If you're attending a Gi class, please bring your own Gi. If you don’t have one, we’re happy to lend you one for your first session. For NoGi classes, wear a rash guard and shorts. And don’t forget a water bottle!
We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early to meet the team, get settled, and complete a short waiver.
Who can attend your classes?
Everyone is welcome! No prior experience is required, and our classes are open to all skill levels.
What is the Fundamentals class?
This class is specifically designed for beginners in BJJ and wanting to kick-start their learning. Classes focus on refining and establishing the core techniques required in BJJ.
What is the best class to start with?
If you're brand new to BJJ, we recommend starting with a Monday - Thursday class, as they are our most structured classes and offer maximum access to instructors.
Is BJJ good exercise?
Definitely! BJJ will push and train your body coordination, balance, cardiovascular capacity, flexibility and strength - all while being fun and well supported by a friendly community!
What if I train elsewhere or my attire has other academies logos on it?
No worries at all! We believe in being accessible and welcoming to all.
